To protect your hair from all the chemicals in pool water and prevent swimmers hair try a do it yourself spray on hair protector.
If you get into the pool with dry hair your hair soaks up the water and chemical treatments in the pool. Preventing that is simple. Don't get in with dry hair. Wet your hair with a spray made of 10 parts water to 1 part conditioner. Having your hair already wet means the water doesn't absorb right in to your hair and the conditioner is an extra shield of protection.
This is great to stash for the kids near the pool or in the beach bag to go.

DeleteYou know what's really sad? I practically bathe/shower in pool water. Every time I go get my hair cut, the stylists always ask me if I'm a swimmer. I'm not, but our well water is treated with chlorine before it goes through our pipes and it turns my poor hair green. :o( Even clarifying shampoos don't help. Luckily, it has only turned my hair green where I used to bleach it. My natural hair coming in has stayed normal. So as soon as this bleached mess grows out, hopefully it won't be a problem!
ReplyDeleteHaving just your natural is helping, good! My kids have very dry/ethnic type hair. It is dark and by summer's end the tips where a crazy burnt orange color from the pool. Once they started doing this it stayed just normal dry, haha, not burnt.
DeleteHappy Summer!
